About the Merrell Clinic

The Merrell Clinic offers therapy for people who suffer from Sleep Disordered Breathing. Merrell Clinics have been successful in treating the needs of hundreds of clients.

While there are several types of dental devices available to specially trained dentists that treat sleep disordered breathing, the Merrell Clinic specializes in devices that maintain the lower jaw in a protruded position during sleep, opening the airway to prevent airway collapse.

Founded by dentist; Dr. David Merrell, the Merrell Clinic offers a full range of services to help patients get the sleep they need for good health. For over 14 years, Dr. David Merrell had patients report concerns about the quality of their sleep or of their bed partners. Initially he treated these patients in his dental practice. After graduate studies in Sleep Medicine, Dr. Merrell opened the first Merrell Clinic in 2007 - a practice solely dedicated to helping people with snoring, sleep apnea and other sleep-related problems.

Merrell Clinics recommend dental devices as a first means of treatment for mild to moderate cases of obstructive sleep disorders.

Each patient who visits a Merrell Clinic receives a full evaluation of the airway and convenient at-home sleep studies.  This will determine if a patient has obstructive sleep apnea or other sleep disorders.

At the Merrell Clinic, strict treatment guidelines set out by the Canadian Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine are followed. The Merrell Clinic teams work in conjunction with other medical colleagues including family MDs, Respirologists, Ear, Nose and Throat specialists and public and private sleep centers.
